![]() But as I said there's rumored to be another magazine coming out in the near future so I'm pretty much over that or using factory. Originally I was intending on getting a 1 and done general handgun (HAHA some people will say as you never buy just one gun) I knew I wanted a gun that was concealable, but the 10 round capacity did slightly turn me off because I thought I was going to have 15 rounds originally before the shield arm magazine experience/research. ![]() Me being a new gun owner I didn't really know exactly what I wanted yet. (after switching back to factory works fine, it seems you need to hit the lottery with their gen 2 magazines after spending hours researching and watching videos, but I do not trust them myself, which is fine because I've decided to be okay with using factory 10 rounds +1 and I can wait for PSA to come out with their alternative magazine, which is rumored to come out soon) Went home and watched some videos, and despite my friends 43x (shield mags) having failures to feed/eject, my excitement got the best of me and we both returned the next day to shoot his 43x, 45 and 19, and after enjoying my day I literally pulled the trigger and bought my own 43x following his footsteps. His 43x worked flawlessly with the factory magazine and catch, but after installing the shield arms catch and using their magazine, we were having failures to feed and failures to eject every other shot fired. There were 2 left at my local shop with night sights installed, and my friend decided that he would buy the 43x. He suggested it was a great solution because of the Shield Arms magazine catch that works with the Shield Arms magazines 15 round capacity. (basically knew nothing at the time, even less than I do after my purchase and nonstop research since) I kind of had my unexperienced novice eyes on a Glock 19, but me being a skinnier guy with smaller hands the 43x really stood out to me for concealment. My friend who owns multiple guns and full sized Glocks wanted a Glock 26 and the guy who worked the shop pointed us towards the 43x. (24 now) Had a great time shooting with some of my friends and my buddy who just finished military service and after the excitement of a few experiences at the range decided to buy my first gun, that being a Glock 43x. New gun owner here, wanted to own a gun my entire life.

![]() Initially, O’Neil was enthusiastic about all of the support and attention. O’Neil started a Tumblr blog called Tumbl-Con, a launch pad for what would eventually become DashCon, named for a Tumblr user’s main page which is called a dashboard. “I saw these posts and I thought, ‘What if there was a Tumblr convention? What if I made a Tumblr convention? And then all of you could also have friends?’” She noticed this pattern a lot: people forming strong bonds with virtual strangers online over things that really mattered to them, things that they didn’t have a network for in their everyday lives. There must be more people like her on Tumblr.” “But when I met my best friend, I was like, well, there must be more people like me on Tumblr. I didn’t really have the ability to connect with people and I didn’t know why,” she said. Over time, she even met one of her best friends on the platform after searching content about her hometown. O'Neil showed off one of her main DashCon outfits in tribute to Tumblr. Like other conventions, DashCon attracted cosplayers who don elaborate costumes. She had always been a fan of Harry Potter, and had started getting into cosplay, anime and the Avengers – all extremely popular subjects among Tumblr users. O’Neil’s Tumblr experience became markedly better once she sussed out what kinds of interests were big on the platform. “I started on Tumblr writing traditional blogs about mouse genetics,” she said. O’Neil, who is now a costume designer and also works at an exotic animal sanctuary, always had an interest in small animal husbandry. “I saw one of my neighbor’s accounts where she would just post pictures of hipster hairstyles and One Direction members, and I thought ‘What is this even for?’ But my friend assured me it was cool, that you could blog about whatever you wanted,” O’Neil told CNN. She started using Tumblr in 2012, and it took her a while to really figure out what the platform was for. Like so many other Tumblr users, O’Neil was just a nerdy teenager with cool interests looking for other people like her. The idea can be traced back to Lochlan O’Neil who was only 17 at the time DashCon took place. Whose failure it was, exactly, is a thornier question. To say DashCon was a failure is a simple fact. It taught us how difficult it is to translate the social media experience into the real world, and that sometimes, even with the best intentions, what happens online should just stay there. It was a legendary failure, plagued by low attendance and mismanagement, summed up in one iconic image of a single, sad child’s ball pit on a hotel convention room floor.įor all its (somewhat hilarious) failures, DashCon immediately became a core parable of our social media lore. The idea was similar to the already-popular VidCon, which focuses on YouTube celebrities, or any number of fan conventions around the world that have been going strong for decades.ĭashCon would not reach such great heights. The result was DashCon, an attempt to bring together Tumblr users from different interests and fandoms for a single event. However, in 2014, its denizens learned a hard lesson when some forward-thinking users thought to gather this amorphous mass of creativity and recreate it in real life. Years of Tumblr discourse have helped shape current structures of entertainment fandoms, social justice language, queer subcultures and all manner of special interests one might see at a comic book convention or Marvel movie premiere. It was – and still is – hailed as a crucible of nerd-dom, where young people gather to trade memes, pop culture observations, poems, musings, fan fiction, art, and absurdist jokes to satisfy even the most niche communities. Though the blogging platform is still active, Tumblr’s unquestionable heyday passed in the mid-2010s. Civilian applications include disaster response, agriculture monitoring, and climate change research. The radar imaging constellation gathers data for use by the Italian military, which employs the imagery to track maritime traffic in the Mediterranean Sea. The Italian government oversees the radar constellation, which consists of four first-generation satellites now beyond their operating lifetimes, and the first in a new generation of COSMO-SkyMed spacecraft that launched in December 2019 on a Russian Soyuz rocket from French Guiana. The COSMO-SkyMed satellites provide regular day-and-night radar imaging of locations around the world for the civilian and military users. Our live coverage was be available on this page beginning at 5 p.m. Both halves of the rocket’s payload flew to space three times on prior Falcon 9 missions. Both the Super Heavy and Starship are designed for reuse, though much work will be needed to reach the reliability level of the Falcon 9.After bad weather and an errant cruise ship prevented launch on four previous days, SpaceX fired a Falcon 9 rocket into orbit Monday from Cape Canaveral with an Italian radar remote sensing satellite. Once the Starship has been fully developed, it will be used for NASA missions to the moon and possibly to Mars. The first test flight took place in April, but the rocket failed to reach orbit after it exploded in midair. So once again, to the people at MTV, I appreciate the zeal and energy that was put behind my last record, I truly do and say thank you and again I say thank you but no…no thank you. My muse is not a horse and I am in no horse race and if indeed she was, still I would not harness her to this tumbrel - this bloody cart of severed heads and glittering prizes. My relationship with my muse is a delicate one at the best of times and I feel that it is my duty to protect her from influences that may offend her fragile nature. The active galaxy family includes the exotically named quasars and blazars. The energy output of these nuclei can sometimes outshine their host galaxies. NGC 1672 is a member of the family of Seyfert galaxies, named after the astronomer, Carl Keenan Seyfert, who studied a family of galaxies with active nuclei extensively in the 1940s. A few bright foreground stars inside our own Milky Way Galaxy appear in the image as bright, diamond-like objects. They also appear reddened as they shine through NGC 1672’s dust. Galaxies lying behind NGC 1672 give the illusion they are embedded in the foreground galaxy, even though they are really much farther away. NGC 1672’s symmetric look is emphasized by the four principal arms, edged by eye-catching dust lanes that extend out from the center. Delicate curtains of dust partially obscure and redden the light of the stars behind them. In the new image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, clusters of hot, young, blue stars form along the spiral arms, and ionize surrounding clouds of hydrogen gas that glow red. It appears that the bars are short-lived, begging the question: will non-barred galaxies develop a bar in the future, or have they already hosted one that has disappeared? This allows the bar portion of the galaxy to serve as an area of new star generation. And that means hundreds of gigabytes of raw data just waiting for us to process and release to the world.Astronomers believe that barred spirals have a unique mechanism that channels gas from the disk inwards towards the nucleus. Scientists believe that the bars in NGC 1365 may be part of what fuels new star formation within the galaxy. This causes the material to form into higher and lower densities, according to Inverse. ![]() Mesmerizing galaxies like the Great Barred Spiral Galaxy form due to a congregation of gasses, stars, and galactic dust orbiting the center of a galaxy at different speeds. Unlike the Milky Way and other barred spiral galaxies, NGC 1365 has two bars of older stars stretching across it. NGC 1365 is very similar to our own Milky Way galaxy. Reddit user u/SpaceGuy44 processed the image from raw data taken from James Webb. The galaxy is also “face-on” towards Earth, which gives astronomers a perfect view of its double-barred structure. |
